On Saturday the 28 th of May I had the opportunity to attend the TOPS at SPAR Wine Show, at Monte Casino. It was a wine filled WINEderland. The theme was a carnival wonderland, with a play on the use of the word. From start to finish the wine show was exquisitely put together, classy, fun and the variety was exceptional. If you missed it, here's why you should be at the TOPS at SPAR Wine Show next year. Our annual wine festival kicks off today in participating stores! Look out for a huge variety of wines at great promotional prices. Here we wanted to share three of our favourite wines that are included in the festival.

Perlezza Rosé
First up, our wine of the week is the fresh and fruity Perlezza Rosé. This extra-dry fizz is one of our new summer wines. Sourced from northern Italy, this sparkling wine works well with a little summery salad, preferably as you sit outside in the sunshine! Serve it nice and cold to release its delicate red berry and apple flavours and the soft creamy finish. Cheers!

Vine & Bloom Pinot Grigio
Next up is our deliciously light and refreshing Italian pinot grigio. This crisp and appley wine is vegan and so pairs perfectly with a healthy Thai noodle salad or the autumnal flavours of stuffed veggies, preferably roasted butternut squash. Easily drinkable our Vine & Bloom wine is perfect for after work drinks or with a simple meal, the dry and crisp flavours also means it works excellently as a spritzer – ideal for the last of these sunny days.

Orbis Organic Tempranillo Shiraz

Last but not least, is our tempranillo shiraz red wine, with aromas of strawberries and fruits of the forest. This organic wine has a punchy flavour so it pairs perfectly with heartier dishes such as steak on the bbq, blue cheese or mushroom risotto, which is great as the nights draw in. Exclusive to SPAR and produced in Europe’s leading region for organic vineyards, Castilla La Mancha, this is a wine not to be missed.
